Mage Knight, HeroClix To Make a Comeback?

My version of the World's Finest figure would probably have less Batman, more Marisa Miller.

The latest collectible miniatures news is that a sale of certain former Wizkids’ properties by Topps is imminent. That there will be new HeroClix sets is fairly certain, but perhaps we will see the return of Mage Knight in 2009 as well.

While an official announcement is a few days away, Jake Theis at Save HeroClix has declared that a deal exists in principle between Topps and a newly formed game company. Theis’ Pinata Games will be involved on some level – the prior reported involvement of Catalyst Games was not mentioned.

While the relaunch of HeroClix is the core of the deal, Theis also says, “the new group is buying some other brands from Topps, and other WizKids’ fans may be delighted to hear what the new group wants to do with them.”

Now, at the risk of engaging in some blatant rumor-mongering, this sounds like Mage Knight could be returning. A simple process of elimination makes it a likely candidate, especially since we know that the Shadowrun and Mechwarrior properties were taken off the table several weeks ago. I don’t think they have big plans for MLB SportsClix or CreepyFreaks.

Crimson Skies. Sure, it didn’t do well for whatever reason, but there needs to be more. Oh well, it was probably ‘taken off the table’ along with the other FASA properties.

Did anyone ever play Baseballclix? How would that even work?

i wish they’d bring back Mechwarrior. that was always my favourite of Wizkids’ games, by a wide margin.

Mechwarrior was the only one I ever played. I quit after the the Liao Incursion. Just couldn’t take the powerreep.

powercreep, rather. Why do I always pick sites with no edit button?

If there was an easy way for me to implement an edit button, I’d be all over it.

Hit up my game shop, all they had was the Light Class Solaris VII Mechwarrior. Got it for half off. A beautiful combination of being a frequent buyer and also taking off his hands the last of the Gundam CCG.
