The Wandering HeroClix Player
Anyone who has ever entered a tournament or otherwise played a game with strangers has at least one story to tell about a weird, belligerent or utterly bizarre opponent. But have you ever played against a deity?
Over at HCRealms, there’s a brilliant forum thread called The Most Ridiculously Unbelievable Things Judges Have Seen Players Do. It’s full of hilarious stories of weirdo gamers, but one in particular really fired my imagination. Forum member Talezine tells this tale:
We were setting up to play a game at the store when this guy just walks up to the group. He asked what the game was, and we explained it to him. He was a shabby looking guy…opened button-up shirt over a t-shirt, blue jeans with small holes in the knees, old tennis shoes, curly brown hair and a beard. He asked if he could play.
The friendly gamers let him build a team from their collections, and explain the rules to the newcomer, but he doesn’t really seem to be paying attention. He then goes on to win three straight matches, and the entire tournament.
After that, he got up and shook my hand thanking me. He won the tournament, but he just placed his pieces on the map and walked out without even waiting for the prize. We all just sat there, dumbfounded…It was a very strange day. I always wondered who this guy was.
That’s a great story by itself, but then there’s this comment from Simonexus:
My guess would be it was Odin in his guise of The Wandering Clix Player (aka The Wandering Clixer), in which he travels the mortal world. He would do that quite often in the olden days, so I’m guessing he’s back at it.
I wonder if he used Thor in his team?

Hail Odin!
The guy who ran the Mechwarrior Dark Age tourneys I played in bore a strong resemblance to Darth Maul with long hair. Amazing tattoos all over his face. That is a level of awesome most people never reach.
Darth Maul Guy, if you’re reading this, thanks for running those games.

I hope to have more articles under the ‘weird’ tag as time goes by. The world needs more weird.
