Rise of the Eldrazi Puzzle Contest — Part 1

March 28th, 2010 by Ed Grabianowski

This is part one of five in Robot Viking’s Rise of the Eldrazi puzzle contest. Decipher all five clues (one each weekday all week) and you could win two Worldwake intro packs and a playset of four custom extended art Blightnings. This won’t be a cakewalk.

Click here for the full contest rules and prize info. In brief, there will be one puzzle each day this week, each appearing for only 24 hours. Each puzzle’s answer will be three letters. The answers to all five puzzles will combine, in order, to make up a secret Twitter account, where you can find a code word and email address. Be the first person to send the code word to the email address and win the prize.

Now, on to today’s puzzle. Remember, each puzzle will disappear after 24 hours, to be replaced by the next puzzle.

The other day, Sorin Markov was dueling a Planeswalker named Fibonacci. Fibonacci said, “I’ll tap for G1 mana,” and played this card:

Then he presented Markov with the following puzzle, and said, “If you understand the true nature of the spiral, you can follow the pattern and find your clue. The sequence of the spiral represents the number of letters you must skip between the letters that reveal the answer. Following each gap in the code, the pattern begins anew. The first letter in each block represents the zero that starts you down the spiral. Remember, the final answer will take the form of three letters.”

So, I had this one an hour ago, let’s pump up the puzzles!

I’m using trash talking to inspire competition, am I succeeding?
