Community Cup Limited Formats Announced

I’ve know for a weeks weeks now that the constructed formats for Magic’s 2010 Community Cup would be unified standard and unified commander, but no clue what the limited events would be. Now we know. What kind of crazy sealed or draft events will I be playing?

It turns out nothing too crazy. The draft event will be Mirrodin block. I don’t have a ton of experience with that set, but with some hardcore training and practice, I think I can get up to speed. The sealed event will be Rise of the Eldrazi, but with an as-yet unannounced “twist,” debuting Wizards’ new sealed format.  Obviously the twist could throw in a wrench into the works, but I have some experience with RotE sealed, so I’m not too worried there. My plan looks like this:

1. Open [card]Gideon Jura[/card].

2. Shuffle [card]Gideon Jura[/card] into a (virtual) pile of cards.

3. Win!

Failing that, I’ll revert to a strategy of making effective use of levelers and certain key defenders while using mana acceleration to lay down a major Eldrazi beatdown.

Here’s the official announcement, by the way.

To be honest, I was sort of hoping Wizards would treat us to a Cube Draft — imagine how amazing an official Wizards of the Coast Cube Draft would be — but I guess that doesn’t work quite as well with MTGO. The two limited formats will be interesting. Eldrazi sealed is obviously pretty wild, and a Mirrodin draft will be new territory for me. Fun and challenging. I can’t wait. Anyone have any Mirrodin tips for me?
