World’s Largest Grand Prix

May 23rd, 2010 by Ed Grabianowski

Due to various computer issues, along with various forgetting to bring my camera issues, I wasn’t able to post any detailed updates about the Grand Prix D.C. until now. Have you ever wondered how many players it would take to set a world record for the largest Magic Grand Prix ever?

The answer, apparently, is over 1,900. Yes, the announced attendance at the main tournament yesterday was 1,930. They actualy had to split it into two tournaments for Day 1, so there were literally two concurrent Grand Prixs going on simultaneously in the same place.

I ran GRed Deck Wins yesterday, opened 2-1, then lost three matches in a row (badly) and dropped out. I’ll post the full decklist later next week (it’s slightly different from the earlier version). I’ll be heading back to the convention center shortly to play in more public events and do some trading.

Ouch. Every Tourney I’ve ever been to I’ve finished one place out of prizes. It’s becoming a horrifying tradition. One of these days I’ll win. In other news, THAT IS A TON OF PEOPLE AT A TOURNAMENT! I approve.
