StarkingtonPost Back with Magic News Off the Beaten Path

January 19th, 2011 by Ed Grabianowski

After a hiatus of several months, Magic news aggregator TheStarkingtonPost.com is back with frequent daily updates. This is not your typical Magic site, though, and it’s worth a look even if you’re not a hardcore Pro Tour player.

TheStarkingtonPost is run by long-time Magic player and writer Bill Stark. I got to meet Bill at the Community Cup last year, where he generously sat out an extra event to allow me more playing time. Great guy, seriously. And I swear I’m not just saying this because there’s a big link to Robot Viking on his front page as I write this, I was planning this all week!

Anyway, what I really like about the Post is that Bill finds interesting news items related to Magic all over the place. It isn’t just your usual pile of self-important Magic experts discussing their brilliant strategies and their latest deck “brew.” For example, right now there’s a story about a new game designed by Richard Garfield, a sports columnist angry that Wizards of the Coast’s website infringes on an NBA team’s name, and a comparison of Magic and the Vs. tcg, outlining all the (ultimately fatal) flaws the superhero-themed game suffered from. A lot of the stories approach Magic from a different angle like that, and it makes for an interesting read.

You can easily get updates on TheStarkingtonPost articles by following Bill’s Twitter feed.
