Fiction Friday — “Extraneus Invokat” Published in Black Static 21

February 25th, 2011 by Ed Grabianowski

No free fiction today, but I do have news of some fiction I wrote being published, something I’m, frankly, pretty excited about.

I’m going to try to keep this “Fiction Friday” streak going as long as I can, but this week I’m merely directing you to another source for your fiction devouring needs. UK horror magazine Black Static has put out their 21st issue, and it contains a story I wrote called “Extraneus Invokat.” I try not to use Robot Viking to tout myself too often, but it’s my first fiction publication, so I figured I’d share it with the Vikings (I mentioned this earlier on the Robot Viking Twitter feed, so apologies if you’re hearing it twice).

If you head over to the Black Static site, you can subscribe to the magazine or order an electronic version of individual issues (although more recent issues, including 21, don’t seem to be available). If you’re in the U.S., you can actually buy Black Static at Barnes & Noble, although it may be a few weeks until this issue arrives here.

Also, check out the illustration, by artist Dan Henk, that accompanies my story:

Congratulations on the publication, dude-man. You’re on your way to being a best selling author. I can feel it.

Also, that illustration is pretty sweet. Hands are hard as Hell to render properly.

still can’t get the individual issue online. Where would it be sold? B&N?

Barnes & Noble carries Black Static, but as of about 2 weeks ago, issue 21 had not yet arrived. I’ll post something when I can confirm that #21 is on B&N shelves. It looks like they no longer epub new issues of Black Static.
