This week’s Miniature of the Week comes courtesy of Alex Smith, purveyor of the Sketchy McMinipaints mini painting blog. Alex does a great job working vivid colors into his paint schemes and has a very distinctive style.
Here’s what Alex has to say about his minis:
“I painted a lot when i was in high school 12 years ago, and last year started painting again when one of my players requested I painted the Hero pieces from my Heroquest game. They turned out pretty good, so I just kept painting. Most of these are characters from a Pathfinder campaign I’m running (we’re going through Rise of the Runelords). I generally do a simple base-coat then work on wash and some dry-brushing if need be. It takes me about an hour and a half to knock one of these out.”
Thanks for the minis Alex — great photography here, too. My favorite is the Grey Maiden, interesting mini and the grey/red color scheme looks really cool.
If you’d like to submit your minis to MotW, simply email me with photos of your minis attached. Make sure and start the subject with “MotW:” so I can spot it more easily. It doesn’t have to be a single mini, it can be a group you painted, or a cool set piece you built, or a massive army battle. Anything cool will work! Please also include your name (or company name), and any extra info you’d like to provide, such as what company produced the minis, special painting techniques you used, what character you’re portraying, or anything else of interest. And don’t forget to give Robot Viking permission to use your photos!
Also, there was no entry in the professional division this week. If you’re a company that makes or sells minis or paints and would like a gallery of your products featured on Robot Viking, send me an email and we’ll make it happen. MotW is also looking for sponsors to offer small prizes to the featured amateur mini artist each week.[Gallery not found]
