Miniature of the Week — A Pair of 40K Armies

May 31st, 2011 by Ed Grabianowski

This edition of MotW features a couple of Warhammer 40K armies assembled and painted by Chris Lomartire (he goes by the name “generic” here at RV). Lest you doubt the visual impact of fully painted armies marching to battle, feast your eyes on these beauties!

Chris is one of those gamers for whom the game is grand, but the preparation and painting is at least half the fun. In his words:

“I’ve been collecting, painting, and gaming with Warhammer 40k miniatures for a little over two years now, and I’d like to share the final product of my painting projects with the folks at Robot Viking.

So what I bring to the table today is a collection of two Warhammer 40k armies, the Tyranids and the Eldar.  I must say while the gaming aspect of 40k has been a lot of fun, the painting aspect has been a major part of the hobby for me as well.  A well-painted army on the tabletop really adds that extra visual touch to any epic tabletop battle, and nobody can deny that a fully painted Tyranid monstrosity is much more intimidating than a tall jumble of grey plastic!”

Thanks Chris! My favorite is the Wraithlord. That thing looks so alien and awesome, and the paint job is top notch.

I do NOT care about painting minis– but sometimes I sure wish I did. Lovely.

I feel so intimidated when my mix of painted bugs and unpainted ork prxies do battle with them.
