Play the Heroes of Neverwinter Beta, the D&D Facebook RPG
The official D&D Facebook game, heroes of Neverwinter, is in beta, and Robot Viking has 50 beta keys to give out. If you’re looking for an old-school RPG video game, check it out!
There’s a good chance that you hate Facebook games, and I won’t argue with you there. But give Heroes of Neverwinter a look. It plays like a classic RPG that you might have had for your SNES or Sega Genesis. Create your adventurer, team up with friends and go on missions slaying goblins, undead, dragons and other monsters. Not a farm in sight!
To get your beta key, first you have to send an email to betacode@robotviking.com. In the subject, write “Beta Code.” In the email, let me know which class you want to play: fighter, rogue, wizard or cleric (that’s just so I know that you’re niether a robot nor a unicorn). You’ll receive an email in response with your beta key (which might take a few minutes, because I’m not a robot nor a unicorn either).
Once you have your beta key, log in to Facebook. Then point your browser to the Heroes of Neverwinter Promo Page. Enter your key and click the “Submit Query” button. That’s it! Once you’re in, bookmark the Heroes of Neverwinter launch page to play whenever you want.
We only have 50 beta keys to give away, on a first come, first served basis. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, so don’t delay.

Not the same (at all I guess) but Dragon Age Legends can be played via Google+ wich, well, isn’t Facebook at least

I have to say, I am kinda diggin this game. However, they just made it so that the characters of your friends are out ‘resting’ for hours after you use them in an adventure. that’s even including the ‘energy’ stat that keeps draining. Soloing a low level dungeon is possible, but tough!

What, do you have something against unicorns? I can understand not wanting to get bots taking your keys, but what did unicorns ever do to you?
It’s been a while since I played any Facebook game, so seeing one that doesn’t involve a town, or a ville, or a cut & paste text “adventure” is fine by me. I’d definitely like to give it a try. Email away!

Hey, how do you report back on the beta? The last 4-5 adventures I have played, everything hits ALL the Time! not horrible if you have initiative, but I actually lost my entire party on the lvl 4 crypt adventure. packs of blazing skeles with auto hit can really smoke your wizard, or worse, your cleric.

Says the beta is full.
Guess I’m out of luck.

Eric, did you get a code from ed?
September 10th, 2011 5:44 PM
I did indeed. Though when I entered it I received the message saying it was full, and to watch the homepage, or something.

That’s lame.

I can’t get the promo page to work, I dunno why.
September 11th, 2011 2:37 AM
It is, indeed, rather lame. I still thank you all the same for offering the codes.
Though if Billy can’t even get the promo page to load, maybe the site itself was having issues at the time.

That’s weird. Mine worked.
Though there is also a lot of bitching right now about the changes they implemented. Many hour cool down on the usage of your friends characters, and apparently the game is bugged or something, ‘cuz everything is auto hitting AND causing max damage (and sometimes crit damage) Level appropriate dungeons can be hardcore killers. Its really a question of who has initiative.

In that case, I guess it would behoove those of us who were unable to gain access to check back after they get all the issues cleared up. Maybe they didn’t want more people playing while there were glitches, or the glitches themselves are preventing new people from joining. We shall see.

Eric I just got a all closed signal when I was trying to log in. But i fixed it by logging into facebook first and then hitting the link Ed gave me. went right to the page. give that a try.

I just tried loading it up as normal on a whim, and it seems to be working just fine now. Runs a bit slow for me, but I have a feeling that’s because I’ve got too many browser windows open. So far… it is pretty enjoyable. Definitely more interesting than the previous D&D game on Facebook.

Glad you got on Eric.
So who out there has played this? what do you think of it? anyone run into issues with the auto-hit /max-damage bug (presumably its a bug?). It’s making the game more like chess to me and really killing my parties. I took some of my friends characters with my 8th level dragon born fighter to kill the white dragon (lvl 5 rogue, level 2 fighter and level 2 cleric) they all died, i spent 5 healing potions and barely survived with my lvl 8 character. We were playing on hard, but it was a 1st level adventure and I think that with the characters I had it should have been far more survivable.

I’ve only done a few dungeons, but I don’t think I’ve experienced the bug/feature. Though it did seem like those goblins in my last battle were hitting pretty hard.
Overall, it is a pretty fun game. Not a substitute for the real thing, but I don’t feel like it is a waste of time. The character cooldown is ultra lame though. If I want to burn through 3 dungeons in a row with the same party, I should be allowed. It is a way for them to make money though, selling astral diamonds for real $$ in order to refresh your allies.
