A Table of 100 Random Weather Conditions for Your RPG
Your players and NPCs won’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows with this handy table of 100 random weather conditions.
I think weather is overlooked very often in RPGs, and that’s a big mistake. Consider how much of an effect the day’s weather has on your mood and your actions in your regular daily life, most of which you spend indoors!
There are a few different ways you can use this table. If you want a truly random weather condition, just roll your percentile dice and see what happens. However, if your campaign takes place in a certain type of climate, or you know what season it is, you may want to constrain your weather conditions appropriately. If that’s the case, roll percentile dice as normal, find your number on the table, then just go straight across until you find the column for the season you want. That will be your seasonally appropriate weather condition.
I tried to mix in a few extreme weather events, but if you roll on this every day, they will certainly be too common. Feel free to reroll those as needed. While the table is almost entirely setting-generic, I did include one supernatural weather event per season which may not suit a non-fantasy RPG. Again, reroll as needed.
(I should point out that some common conditions are repeated across seasons — it’s virtually impossible to come up with 100 truly unique weather conditions!)
